Till Death do us Part...

As a society we are married to the idea that sickness is a part of life. We accept it as normal, even accepting that it will just be what happens to us as we go along. Not to often do we question the "stages of sickness". We seem to go along with each stage, inching our way closer and closer the end. As far as I know, we haven't found the fountain of youth yet....

Children stay sick all winter, and the adults that are exposed to them are too.

You are told as a young woman that when we have a painful period and debilitating hormone migraines every month, it's just part of being a women, and it's normal.

In early adulthood the aches and pains in your body are "normal wear" from work. The fatigue is all a part of life.

As you age, high blood pressure is normal.

Type two diabetes? Normal! Arthritis? Normal!

Digestive system break down? Normal!

Migraines, fatigue, emotional instability? Normal!

It's all just NORMAL, right?

We treat the symptoms, take the medications and go along with our lives.

What if it wasn't "normal". What if your body was an amazing vessel capable of self repair, healing and strength? What if all these "normal" things were actually our bodies yelling at us that they need help to return to being amazing healthy self healing vessels?

Remember in high school science class, we learned about Homeostasis.

Homeostasis; In biology, homeostasis is the state of steady internal, physical, and chemical conditions maintained by living systems. This is the condition of optimal functioning for the organism and includes many variables, such as body temperature and fluid balance, being kept within certain pre-set limits

This is the HAPPY PLACE. Homeostasis is the place where our bodies can hum along, exerting minimal energy, feeling their best selves and functioning like the fine tuned vessels of perfection they are. Yet, why are so many of us NOT living in this oasis like state? There are literally 1000's upon 1000's of reasons.

Environmental factors; pollution, chemicals in the environment, dirty water, off gases and the like.

Physical factors; stress, nutrition, lack of movement, poor self care, vitamin and mineral deficiency, alcohol and substance use ect.

Emotional factors; toxic relationships, loss of connections, no support systems and more.

As unique as each person's fingerprint, so is their causations for imbalance. Finding your balance point can take some work, and can take some time. It is likely that you will flow in and out of your balance point many many times as you search for your homeostatic state.

The good news is, many of these conditions of DIS - Ease within your body are not the norm, and you don't have to accept them. Almost all states of dis - ease within the body can be linked back to chronic and recurring inflammation, and a pH that registered on the acidic side.*. Take for example type 2 diabetes. This has been studied at great length. Almost ALL cases are linked back to chronic inflammation and overuse of the pancreas, causing it to crap out and give up. What if instead of just accepting that when I turn 50 I will have to take diabetes, blood pressure meds with a side of a diuretic, we looked at ways to support our pancreatic functions to prevent it? Balanced our nutritional habits, watched the inflammatory foods, chemicals and stressors in and around our bodies, supported healthy aging?

What if you where PRO active with your health instead of RE active. What if you looked for the root cause of your DIS-Ease instead of masking the symptoms?

Finding Balance can be hard, and maybe overwhelming for you. You may not have the support of your medical professional to ask questions about the causation of a symptom. I know I didn't until I was almost 40. So what can you start to do NOW to work back to a place of homeostasis? Here's a couple Ideas;

  • Starts a Journal - In this journal make note of a couple things; how you are feeling, what you are doing, how you are moving, what you are ingesting (nutrition, media, energetically), how do you feel after ingesting these things.

  • Decrease your Toxic Load - Look around your home and environments you spend a lot of time in. Are they filled with chemical scents, heavy duty cleaners, and chemically processed foods? These are known hormone disrupters and hugly inflammatory to the body. Start switching them out.

  • Do MORE of what makes you happy. Find movement that brings joy and DO more of it! Love to walk the trails with friends, do that. Love to weight train, do that! Movement not only clears out the inflammation in our bodies, it also helps clear the emotionally stagnant energy of mind and spirit too.

Need Movement Ideas? Catch a Class with us, or grab one from the video library.

Continue to reach for that balance and see how you can change your future self.

*Please note that I understand that there are conditions and dis-eases that are not simply treated with better balance and decreased toxic load. However I am also fully aware that these things can have a GREAT impact on the bodies ability to fight and recover from them.
